Applications / Grinding
Grinding operations produce fine to medium sized dust particles that can be effectively collected by various types of control equipment, including ducted dust collectors, control booths, downdraft tables and benches, and high-vacuum systems. Questions to be asked to determine the best ventilation system are: (1) How heavy is the dust load? (2) Are the parts being grinded large or small or variable in size? (3) Are there sparks generated? Grinding operations on steel, for example, can produce sparks, requiring a drop-out box or a spark-resistant collector. (4) Is the dust combustible? Combustible dust (such as aluminum dust) may be safely collected by wet (water filter) dust collectors.
